Map of La Orotava

La Orotava is a town located in the north of Tenerife, 25 kilometres from Tenerife North Airport and 87 kilometres from Tenerife South Airport – Reina Sofia on the motorway. If we look at a map of La Orotava we can see that it is the largest municipality on the island, occupying 78% of the Teide National Park. Its population is approximately 41,000 inhabitants.

We can quickly reach La Orotava through the Autopista del Norte de Tenerife (TF-5). The main artery that crosses the city is Avenida Obispo Benítez de Lugo, with a multitude of shops around it. It connects with Avenida Son Soledad Cobian and Avenida Emilio Luque Moreno, both of which also have an important commercial activity. If we look at the historic centre on the map of La Orotava we can see its different points of interest, such as the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Concepción, the Municipal Library, the City Hall and its large square, the Liceo de Taoro, the Victoria Garden, the Casa de los Balcones, the Hijuela del Botánico, among others.

As we have already mentioned, most of the Teide National Park is part of the municipality of La Orotava. Through the TF-21 road you can access Mount Teide by vehicle, a 35-kilometre route from the historic centre.
