Permits to climb Mount Teide in Tenerife

All you need are legs, lungs... and a piece of paper

Make your reservation, it's worth it

It is not necessary to climb to the summit of Mount Teide to enjoy the natural landscapes of this emblematic National Park of Tenerife. But, since you’ve come this far, maybe you’d like to… To do this, it is necessary to obtain one of the precious permits to climb Mount Teide issued by the authority of the national park network. Do you want to know more details?

Permission is required to ascend to the summit

Access to the park is free of charge, although, as in all national parks, movement outside the areas enabled for this purpose (i.e. the trails) is prohibited. You also do not need a special authorisation to get to the cable car, use the base car park or to go up in it, although it is advisable to buy your ticket in advance and coordinate it with your turn to access the summit.

The cable car takes you up to La Rambleta, at an altitude of 3,555 metres. At that point, three different trails begin. The one that takes you to the summit is number 10, the so-called “Telesforo Bravo”: less than 700 meters of travel and about 40 minutes of estimated time to climb to the 3,718 meters of the summit. And this is where permits for Mount Teide are essential.

For security and conservation reasons, visitor access has been restricted to 200 people per day, between 09:00 and 17:00 in four two-hour shifts (i.e. you can go up at 9, 11, 13 and 15). This is the link to the Booking Centre to get your booking online.

The permit is free, but it is difficult to obtain it at times of high influx of public, so we recommend that you get it as soon as possible, ideally a couple of months in advance. In addition, it is essential that you carry your documentation (ID or passport) with you, or the reservation will be worthless.
