Zoos in Tenerife

Observe and interact with all kinds of animals in our zoos

Meet the most amazing animals!

Do you want to give your holiday a wild touch? Try visiting the zoos in Tenerife. We have animals from all over the world, accompanied by unique shows at each zoo.

All the zoos on the island have activities and tours to cover most of the day. In addition, they have different shows specific to each park throughout the day. So set aside a full day for each one you want to visit.

Stop by these zoos to enjoy the creatures of the world.

You can bring cameras to all enclosures, but remember to follow the park’s rules and not use flash when taking photos of the animals, unless a sign says that you can do otherwise.

Some of our zoos have exhibits where animals are within easy reach, remember never to feed them. Zoo keepers provide them with a balanced diet with everything they need and for some animals such as birds, giving them certain foods can be detrimental to their health in the long run.

To get to these zoos you need a taxi, private transport or rental car if you are not staying in the town where they are located. Loro Parque , for example, has a train that runs through a large part of Puerto de La Cruz to pick up customers and take them to the park, but it does not offer transport outside this area.

Depending on the zoo, tickets for children under 6 years old may be free, as in Loro Parque or for every two adults, one child may enter for free, as in Siam Park. If you want to find out about all the offers of zoos in Tenerife, do not hesitate to contact us.

Here are some of the zoos

Loro Parque: Located in El Puerto de La Cruz, in the north of Tenerife, this zoo is the largest on the island and the one with the most exhibits. There are shows with dolphins, orcas, sea lions and parrots.

It is home to animals of all kinds, multiple mammals such as gorillas and tigers, a large aquarium with fish from all over the world, from piranhas to sharks and seahorses, reptiles such as crocodiles or iguanas, parrots, penguins… And let’s not forget the many species of plants!

Loro Parque is open from 8:30 am to 6:45 pm. The park covers approximately 14 hectares of land conditioned for you to enjoy a fantastic day.

Jungle Park: If you are in the south of Tenerife, you can’t miss the Jungle Park. A zoo that is a little smaller but no less special. It has specialized exhibits on birds of prey and exotic birds as well as a sea lion show.

This park has a wide variety of bird species, so it is perfect if you like this type of animal. We will also find orangutans (one of the most intelligent primates), leopards, jaguars, penguins, caimans, meerkats…

One of the star attractions is named after Bob: Here you can glide down a track more than 800 meters long aboard a small 4-wheeled kart. Jungle Park offers a free shuttle bus. If you want to know more about this zoo, do not hesitate to contact us. Opening hours are from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm.

And three more so you have plenty

These are three less conventional but very fun zoos in Tenerife:

Monkey Park: If you visit Los Cristianos for its water activities, you can also stop by the Monkey Park and complete your day of adventures. This is a zoo where you can see and interact with a wide variety of fauna.

In addition to apes, the park has other species of animals, but the main attraction is the interaction with primates. They offer activities such as educational games and you can feed the animals (food is provided by the park).

Camel Park: In the Los Cristianos area, the Camel Park is a large estate that includes a farm where you can have camel rides among other activities. Undoubtedly, camels are the stars of the show, and there are a lot of them. The ticket includes visiting and interacting with all the animals that inhabit the enclosure, such as ducks or parrots.

This park has free bus lines available to the southern area of Tenerife. Normal admission includes transportation, photos, samples of local food and drink in addition to lunch. This zoo is open from 9:30 am to 4:40 pm.

Mariposario el Drago: Do you want to spend a day with smaller and adorable animals? Visit the El Drago Butterfly Farm in Icod de los Vinos. This park has more than 800 free-flying butterflies on the premises, apart from dozens of different plants. The park also has a wide variety of caterpillars.

Don’t be fooled by the size of the enclosure, you will be surprised to discover everything that the Butterfly Garden has to offer. In addition, one of the reasons for the park’s existence is the conservation of species, especially butterflies. Apart from those that fly freely, the museum has a wide selection of exocyte specimens on display. You will be able to learn all about these wonderful creatures and the flora of the enclosure. Open from 10:00 am to 06:00 pm.

"An animal's eyes have the power to speak a great language."
