It was declared a National Monument in 1917 as it is a wonder of nature with extraordinary characteristics. Experts estimate that their age is around 800 years old. It is more than 16 meters high and has a circumference of 20 meters. Today it is the main emblem of the municipality, and one of the greatest natural symbols of the island of Tenerife.
