What to bring to the Teide volcano: The basic kit to come to Teide
It probably goes without saying, because practically all visitors who come to the Teide National Park know perfectly well that they are going to spend a day outdoors and at high altitude… But it never hurts to remember what to bring to the Teide volcano; we can all forget something…
Protect yourself against inclement mountain weather
The great volcanic jewel of Tenerife is a great preserved natural space and, logically, we will be exposed to the elements practically all the time, and surely walking a lot. Thus, a hat, sun protection, sunglasses, sporty and comfortable clothing and a pair of reliable boots (and not new, better) are essential.
It should also be noted that while the climate of Tenerife is, as a rule, magnificent, the climate of Mount Teide is slightly different: look. It’s usually cooler up here, and when the sun beats down, it hits hard. So a warm garment and a large bottle of water won’t hurt, just in case.
For those who want to go a little further
But the climate of Mount Teide is not what should worry you the most if you are preparing to live a more intense experience.
If, for example, you plan to go on long routes, come with some extra energy food, a walking stick to help you walk, a map, a basic first aid kit… Those things.
If you are going to spend the night here, we recommend a pair of binoculars and a map of the stars suitable for the place and time of the year.
And if you are considering climbing Mount Teide… Well, you know better than we do the equipment you need.
Finally, nothing makes you expect an eruption of Mount Teide, and in that case, the truth is that nothing you can bring would be of much use to you. In any case, be sure to take a look at the Teide webcam (here, for example) before coming. Just in case…
